Cultural differences can be like a pesky fly in an otherwise happy dating experience. You do not have to be from different countries to have them. Your upbringing determines your feelings about values, the way holidays are celebrated, how a woman is treated in the home, how money is handled, the type of language used, what expectations are held for the children, your parents support, etc. All these can become added thorns to the complexities of dating.
My good friend Jenna grew up in a warm, accepting informal family who know everybody and had a hug for everyone. Her dad is gentle, kind and openly friendly. He has a special love relationship with each of his children. They could tell him anything and he is never too busy to listen.
Eric has a European breeding. His dad is the undisputed head of the family. His word is law. Mom is the one the kids would go to when they need comforting. Dad rarely takes time to bond with his children. Eric never remembered his dad showing affection to his mom. Their lifestyle is just much more formal and physical demonstrations of love are few.
